UPDATE 3/14 - All lacrosse organizations in Indiana are currently on hold until further notice.
As
you know, the start of our season has been severely impacted by the
closures of schools and facilities statewide. As a club, we look to the
school district and local lacrosse governing
bodies for both direction and guidance. Yesterday, we received information
from all parties and wanted to give you a quick update regarding practice/ game schedules.
IYLA
(Indiana Youth Lacrosse Association) is the governing body of youth
lacrosse in Indiana. They
have already cancelled all games (boys and girls) until at least 4/1.
Upon their recommendation, we will also postpone any formal practices
until at least April 1st. Below is an excerpt from their press release:
Regardless of if/when the IYLA decides to move forward with games, we strongly encourage that teams, at a minimum,
to:
- Follow
the guidelines of their schools (if a school or region based
team)/churches (if a church based team) of which they are a part; and,
- Cease all practices thru at least the time period the IYLA is not having games played (4/1).
- Quite simply, it just isn’t worth it.
IHSLA (HS Boys Governing Body) and
INGLA (HS Girls Governing Body) have released similar messaging:
The
Indiana High School Lacrosse Association (IHSLA) in conjunction with
the Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association (INGLA) has prepared the
following
press release for its members. As schools continue to suspend the
academic year through relative spring breaks, the IHSLA and INGLA will
be following suit.
Effective immediately, all boys and girls lacrosse games will be suspended until April 13th.
This date was selected as most schools will be returning from their
hiatus from classes. School administration will ultimately determine
when programs can return to practice after they commence classes.
The
IHSLA and INGLA board of directors will allow this situation to further
develop before any changes are made to their postseason formats.
Please note that this situation is evolving daily, and dates are subject to change.
While
we are currently in a holding pattern, we are fully committed to
resuming our season as soon as possible! Please encourage your players
to continue their conditioning, play catch with them, encourage them to
work on their footwork, cradling, and ground ball skills. If you would
like some specific skills or drills for your player, please reach out to
their coaches directly for age/ skill appropriate recommendations.
